| Some time ago we wrote on our website information regarding our relocation. Well, we moved into our new house in the middle of February and have been busy making it into our home and preparing rooms for our b&b guests. As yet the work is not completed but we will be ready to welcome guests by early May. We have two guest rooms – one is en-suite with a shower whilst the other is a family room with it’s own bathroom [with bath and shower] immediately adjacent. We are located half way between sleepy Malin Town, with a couple of pubs, a hotel and a few shops all surrounding the village green; and the busy market town of Carndonagh. Malin Head, Ireland’s most Northerly Point is a picturesque drive along the Inishowen 100 route and some 20 minutes away. There is a Riding School locally We are also near to Ballyliffin Golf course, the Isle of Dough Famine Village – a fascinating place where you can find out what life was like in this part of Ireland over the past two hundred years. A twenty minute drive will take you to Greencastle where there is a small maritime museum, a planetarium and a roll-on-roll off car ferry across the Foyle to Northern Ireland and the beautiful Antrim coast and Giant’s Causeway; not to mention Bushmills Distillery – the oldest commercial whiskey distillery in the world and well worth a visit and a taste of their produce. We are also close to Culdaff where McGrory’s Pub has excellent music nights, and in the daytime there is a beautiful sandy beach to stroll along or, for the very brave, take a swim – but be sure the water will be ‘cold’, even in summer. Also within driving distance, but a little further away and possibly good for a day out, there is Glen Veagh National Park to the south-west of here where they have deer and are at present introducing the Golden Eagles back into County Donegal. There is a possibility that you may get to see one of these magnificent birds of Prey. On the way there you could take a small detour and visit the Grianan of Aileach. This is an ancient Ring Fort on the top of a hill with views of 360 degrees around County Donegal, the City of Derry and Counties Londonderry and Fermanagh. You can walk inside the fort and walk up the steps to the top of the wall for magnificent views. This is said to be one of Ireland’s hidden gems. We are located in a small, quiet community, with views across the hills, including the highest hill in Inishowen, and a view from upstairs of Trebrega Bay and the sand dunes at the mouth of the bay, reputed to be amongst the highest in Europe. If this has made you think
that you may like to stay with us, then email for further details. Trevor
and I will continue to do our best to make your stay with us enjoyable
and memorable and our motto still holds good Here are some

For those of you who are keen walkers, then you will find walks here – for those of you who like solitude; then you can find that, and if you like pubs and music and the ‘craic’ then you will find that too. And for those of you who enjoy a good meal, there are places to eat with a choice of fine dining at the Malin Hotel, excellent pub grub in Carndonagh or, if you like something a little more spicy there are two Chinese restaurants in Carndonagh and a fine Indian Restaurant in Moville which is a little more distant, but well worth the drive. The chefs are both from India and the head waiter, Tony, is from Goa, ably assisted by the chef’s wife who has a warm smile and wears traditional Indian Dress. The owners’ are a lovely Irish couple who make you very welcome indeed. [I bet you can guess that we love eating Indian food and the Karma is our favourite eatery for special occasions.] Druim Doo Villa We only take advance bookings and will be open from early May until late September. We hope to hear from you soon and, hopefully, welcome you to our home. Just email us and we will be happy to give you any further information you may require. For those of you who have stayed with us at our old home – we hope to welcome you to our new home when next you visit Ireland. Here are a few photos we have taken of places to see around this area. |
